Walnut

Walnut offers excellent stability, moderate hardness, and consistent performance across hand tools and power tools. Its straight to mildly figured grain machines cleanly, sands easily, and accepts both oil and film finishes with minimal effort, producing a smooth, refined surface. Walnut also resists warping better than many domestic hardwoods, thanks to its balanced density and predictable movement characteristics. Its deep, chocolate-brown color develops even more richness over time, making it a favorite for fine furniture, architectural millwork, casework, and detailed joinery. Woodworkers value walnut not only for its appearance, but also for its ability to hold crisp edges, take precision joinery, and maintain long-term dimensional stability in both large and small projects.
